Training of River Flotilla Divers
On the part of the Danube River near Novi Sad, members of the diving unit from the River Flotilla conduct their regular training in performing a wide range of tasks in the intake of inland waterways.
The training is carried out on water, under water and in the intake of the river, in line with the purpose of the unit and the nature of tasks that it performs, in order to maintain and enhance the competence and combat readiness of the unit.
In keeping with the training programme, they practise the execution of diving tasks while securing ships at an unmanaged anchorage, searching the river bottom, overcoming underwater obstacles and longitudinal diving in azimuth, with the use of modern underwater weapons.
Diving training in the Serbian Armed Forces is very demanding and complex, since the divers are expected to be ready to act in extreme conditions at all times, and it is only the highest level of training that guarantees the successful execution of specific tasks, both offensive and defensive in nature.
