Minister Vučević meets with President of Republic of Cyprus Christodoulides



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met today with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, thus beginning his official visit to the Republic of Cyprus.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Vučević said it was his pleasure to meet with President of Cyprus Christodoulides and discuss the cooperation between Serbia and Cyprus, as well as the prospects for the development thereof.

Minister Vučević thanked Cyprus for supporting Serbia’s efforts to preserve its territorial integrity, stressing that Serbia’s attitude towards the sovereignty of Cyprus was the same. He also said that the defence cooperation was an important part of the overall Serbia-Cyprus relations.
 
During the meeting, Minister Vučević conveyed the invitation from the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to the President of Cyprus to visit Belgrade this year.

According to the President of the Republic of Cyprus Christodoulides, closeness and friendship have always characterized the relationship between Serbia and Cyprus. He thanked Minister Vučević for President Vučić’s invitation and expressed his great desire to visit Belgrade.
  The delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by Minister Vučević, includes State Secretary Nemanja Starović, Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, PhD, Head of the Human Resources Directorate, General Staff, Brigadier General Savo Iriškić, chiefs of staff in charge of the offices of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Žarko Mićin and Brigadier General Goran Momčilović, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, Ambassador of Serbia to Cyprus Marko Blagojević and Serbian Defence Attaché Colonel Dejan Stanišić.
 
Minister Vučević will continue his official visit by meeting with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Michalis Giorgallas, followed by meetings with representatives of the UN multinational operation in Cyprus, and the Orthodox Archbishop of Cyprus.
