Joint tactical live fire exercise of defence forces of Republic of Serbia - Joint Response 2023

Early this morning, joint tactical live fire exercise Joint Response 2023 started on several locations during which the Serbian Armed Forces troops and units of the Ministry of the Interior will practise the execution of an assault operation.
The exercise activities will include parts of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, the Army, Air Force and Air Defence, Training Command, 72nd Special Operations Brigade and 63rd Parachute Brigade, as well as segments of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, Gendarmery, Intervention and helicopter units of the Ministry of the Interior.

The overall objective of the exercise, which is taking place this and the next week, is to increase the degree of training and skill of the military and police forces for the joint execution of tactical and fire mission during the preparation and execution of combat operations.

In the preparation phase, the activities are carried out at the units’ peacetime stations, whereas in the active phase, the joint forces will practice the execution of combat actions and operations on permanent and temporary training grounds. In the final segment of the exercise, the state leadership and the public will have the opportunity to observe the execution of a part of exercise activities on the Pešter temporary range where military and police forces will demonstrate their top training and skills.
Last week, as part of the preparations for the execution of activities on the ground, a computer assisted command and staff exercise Response 2023 was conducted, the aim of which was to test the competence of the commands, which would take part in the exercise, in the planning and execution of operations in a simulated environment.

Joint tactical live fire exercises represent the most complex form of training in the Serbian Armed Forces. Their execution enhances both the competence of commands to plan operations and command the forces, and the competence of units to execute combat actions autonomously or together with other forces.
