Participation in Balkan Countries CHODs Conference

The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, participated in the 16th Balkan Countries CHODs Conference held in Sophia, the capital of Bulgaria, today.
The topic of this year’s conference was Regional military connectivity and military mobility as a highlight of the partnership in the Balkans — exploring innovative ways for integration and cooperation. The Balkan countries’ CHODs also had an opportunity to exchange their experience and views on other topics relevant to further development of regional defence cooperation.

In his address, General Mojsilović confirmed the commitment of the Serbian Armed Forces to further developing this regional initiative, primarily by improving military cooperation and strengthening confidence among the member states’ armed forces, which is especially important in the context of the current security situation at the global level.
During his stay in Sophia, the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff had separate bilateral meetings with Admiral Emil Eftimov, Bulgaria’s Chief of Defence, and General Rober Brieger, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, with whom he discussed the achievements of the military cooperation and options for its further enhancement.

The Balkan Countries CHODs Forum provides an opportunity for chiefs of defence of the armed forces of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Romania, North Macedonia, Türkiye, and Montenegro to get together, for the purpose of strengthening military cooperation between the Balkan countries and finding ways to respond to modern security challenges, risks and threats. High EU and NATO representatives also attended the conference as guests, as well as CHODs of the Croatian and Slovenian Armed Forces.
