Defence Minister visits Kuwait

Serbian Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac have stated today that the Kuwaiti officials have expressed great interest in the products of the Serbian defence industry, and that the political agreement has been reached on the return of products of the defence industry to that market.

”Absolute political agreement was reached on the renewed export of products of the Serbian defence industry to the demanding Kuwait market”, Sutanovac said to Tanjug after the meeting with Emir’s Deputy Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad and Minister of Defence Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak.

”This time, Serbia will not be just an exporter of the domestic knowledge and products, but also a system integrator of a large portion of the defence industry in the region and across Europe”, said Šutanovac.

He emphasized that after Kuwait he expected opening of opportunity for the export of products of the domestic defence industry also to other countries of the Gulf.

”This is a big step towards future cooperation with the countries of the entire Gulf”, Sutanovac said. During his two-day visit to Kuwait, he talked with officials of that country about promoting bilateral military cooperation and military-economic cooperation.

Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad stated to Tanjug after the meeting that the equipment and ordnance manufactured in Serbia were “well known” to the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and that the signing of a series of bilateral inter-state documents were expected.

”We expect that cooperation between our two countries will go beyond the commercial relations, and sales of weapons and military equipment, and that we will cooperate in the field of education and exchange of visits by delegations. We expect that we will visit Serbia very soon upon the call by Minister Sutanovac”, Prime Minister Nasser Al-Mohammad said.

During the day the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia will visit also a military base in Kuwait.

During the visit to Kuwait, a warm and friendly welcome was organized for the Serbian delegation headed by Minister Sutanovac and the invitation was extended to the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence of Kuwait to visit Serbia.
