Minister Vučević Presents Decorations to Members of Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces
Today, Envoy of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević, in the presence of Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović, presented decorations to members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.
On the occasion of Candlemas Day - Statehood Day of Serbia and Serbian Armed Forces Day, by decrees of the President of the Republic, 196 members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces received gold and silver medals for merit and zealous service.
In addition, Military Printing House of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence received the Candlemas Medal of third degree.
Congratulating the decorated, Minister Vučević said that he was extremely honoured to greet everyone on the occasion of celebrating the most significant military holiday - Serbian Armed Forces Day, which, in our history, symbolises a permanent source and inspiration both for our people, and our armed forces.
- Today, I am presenting the decorations to members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces within the purview of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić on the occasion of celebrating two important dates - the Statehood Day and Serbian Armed Forces Day. Serbia celebrates, remembers and honours both the First and Second Serbian Uprising. These holidays make our foundation and they teach us. From their lessons, we can clearly see what today’s modern Serbia originated from, and what it is that we must adhere to and follow in order to protect and defend it - Minister Vučević stressed.
As the minister of defence reminded, those were both Karađorđe’s and Miloš’s orientations.
- A unique power of bravery and love for the fatherland, and the force of mind, intelligence and statesman wisdom. These are the pillars of our progress. Faith in oneself and one’s own power, the faith in our people who gave birth to our state and our armed forces to which we would like to express gratitude on this occasion - Minister Vučević said.
Adressing the decorated, Minister Vučević pointed out that the decorations presented to them on that day were and expression of mutual respect and their love for the state and of respect of the state for everything that they had done for it.
- Self-sacrifice for the state and people has to be validated and recognised and this is the way in which we to it. Be proud of your decorations and of the great gratitude for your zeal and loyalty to the fatherland. It is my exceptional honour, on the occasion of celebrating the most important military holiday in the home of the oldest military unit, our worthy Guard, and on behalf of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, to have the opportunity to present state decorations of the Republic of Serbia to members, units and institutions of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces - Minister Vučević noted.
The minister of defence congratulated the families of the awarded members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.
- I congratulate you and your families who should be proud to have you as the best examples of honour, honesty, patriotism and dedication to our only state, our fatherland, our Serbia. Long live the Serbian Armed Forces, long live our fatherland Serbia! - Minister Vučević exclaimed at the end of his address.
Members of the Board of the Minister of Defence and Board of the Chief of General Staff attended today’s celebration in the Guard Club in Topčider.
