Minister Vučević and General Mojsilović at Handover of Duty of “Kobre” Commander

Today, at the barracks “Vasa Čarapić”, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović attended the ceremony of hand-over of duty of Commander of Military Police Special Purpose Detachment “Kobre” between former Commander Lieutenant Colonel Goran Colić and newly appointed Commander Lieutenant Colonel Darko Đošić.

Minister Vučević thanked Lieutenant Colonel Colić for his dedication during the performance of the duty and wished success to Lieutenant Colonel Đošić.

- Lieutenant Colonel Colić , I believe that you did your job honourably and I congratulate you on that.  I would also like to wish success and express my belief that Lieutenant Colonel Đošić will rise to the occasion and be capable of performing all the tasks assigned to the unit in the period to come. Mister Đošić, I congratulate you on your appointment and I believe that you are aware of the responsibility and burden that you have been entrusted with today.

Addressing the present, the minister of defence underlined that he believed that they were aware of the circumstance in which our country was.

- For the nth time, our fatherland is under to pressure, chiefly regarding the matter of Kosovo and Metohija. Our task, the task of the state is to preserve peace, because peace is our national and state interest. In these months, we bow to the shadows, and pay homage to all the heroes who gave their lives for our state, not only in 1999 but also in 1998, not forgetting all those who had fought and died for this state since 1990.  It is precisely because we do not want to face mothers’ tears and pain of families who lost their dearest ones that we wish to preserve peace. However, Serbia has its red lines, and if someone thinks that “Storm”, “Flash”, or the pogrom of March 2004 can happen again, he is mistaken. Serbia reached out its hand wishing to arrive at an agreement, but that does not mean that we are weak, and if someone touches us we will fight back resolutely, efficiently, bravely, and we will win. I would like to extend my greetings for the upcoming Serbian Armed Forces Day, the day of all of us, entire fatherland with traditional greeting - Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! Long live Serbia! - Minister Vučević exclaimed.

Former “Kobre” Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Colić pointed out that he was honoured to be a part of that unit over previous seven years having in mind that the unit had always been on a pedestal, and as such, it provided a strong support to the system of defence and security.

- Our approach to tasks demonstrated a high level of patriotism and professionalism, which is why the unit, and each of us, makes an important link in the security system.  I take this opportunity to commend them for that. We have shown that being a member of this unit is a great honour and privilege, but it is at the same time an obligation and responsibility. In the past period, the Detachment performed a range of important tasks, both planned and extraordinary, and one of the more significant tasks certainly was the organisational and mobilisation restructuring of the unit, by which the Detachment gained even greater importance thus creating conditions for its easier functioning, both in terms of command and logistic support - Lieutenant Colonel Colić stressed and wished success to Lieutenant Colonel Đošić on his new duty, hoping that he would continue being dedicated to the tasks and obligations as he was until then.

Newly appointed “Kobre” Commander Lieutenant Colonel Đošić found it impossible to describe the pride and honour that he felt following his appointment as the commander of the unit in which he had started his career, and where he had learnt so much since it was the unit which had been carrying the glory of the Serbian military for more than 45 years.

- The feeling of honour and pride is only overpowered by the sense of responsibility for the obligations and tasks that lie ahead of me. To belong to this unit is a privilege of the chosen ones, but once we put on this uniform and attach the insignia of the “Kobre” we have to prove each day that we truly belong among the best. Military leadership, the Supreme Commander and our fatherland expect a lot from us, and we are here to perform the most demanding tasks in the most complex conditions when all others cannot, or do not know how, or do not want to. There is only one goal - to preserve the security of Serbia and all its citizens. Hence, we will work harder, better, and we will raise the level of competence and capability to execute the challenges that we will face in the future. I will insist on it, and I will expect that from you, and I demand it - Lieutenant Colonel Đošić stated.
