Military Intelligence Agency submitted the Report on its work in 2009



Committee for Defence and Security of the National Assembly adopted today the Report on the work of the Military Intelligence Agency for 2009.

The Deputy Director of MIA Brigadier General Dragan Vladisavljevic and his associates briefed the Committee members on the activities of the Agency during the last year, its tasks and the results of work.

According to the General Vladisavljevic, in 2009, the Republic of Serbia was not an object of military threat. The focus of MIA was therefore gathering the facts about the activities of holders of asymmetric threats in the immediate environment.


- Last year was characterized by instability and tension in the world, followed by a number of regional conflicts, undiminished threat of terrorism as well as internal problems in the countries affected by economic crisis and asymmetric threats. Similar was the situation in the region, which has been characterized by differently motivated tendency to deterioration of relations between the states. The stability of BiH and unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo were the key areas of interest of the international community and countries in the region – General Vladisavljevic underlined.

Members of the Committee for Defence and Security were also interested in terrorist threats to our country, setting up of our mission to NATO, the situation in southern Serbia and in the international environment ...
