Conference on the development of military sports



In the ski training area on Kopaonik a two-day symposium on the possibilities of integration of military sports into the system of national sports of Serbia is being held, organized by the Ministry of Defence, more specifically the Serbian Delegation to the International Council for Military Sports (CISM) and the Military Academy.

At the meeting, headed by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Zoran Jeftic, discussion will be held on the operation of Trauma Centre, the possibilities of realization of high quality and effective training and sports activities in the 51st military ski centre and the development of military sports in Serbia.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Serbian Sports Federation, Olympic Committee, Ski Resorts of Serbia, National Park Kopaonik, Biathlon Union of Serbia and Belgrade Marathon Company are expected to take part in it.

In the opening statement Dr Zoran Jeftic emphasized that the goals of the two-day conference are to analyse the four-month operation of Trauma Centre, which justified its existence with more than 800 patients received, as a model of health care for the MoD and SAF members and guests during the ski season, to identify the opportunities for performance of specific contents of training and sports activities of units from MoD and SAF, not only in the winter period but also all year round.

Jeftic said that with smaller investments and upgrading the material base for training at the 51st ski training area Kopaonik, there are substantial opportunities for training and sport throughout the year.
