Annual Conference of the Defence Attachés of the Republic of Serbia
The Fourth Annual Conference of Defence Attachés of the Republic of Serbia is being held in Belgrade, from 12 to 20 April. The Annual Conference is an integral part of management and improvement of the defence missions operating in the framework of our diplomatic missions in the world and an opportunity to brief the military diplomatic representatives on the status and other issues related to their work in the most efficient way, give them guidance and instructions for the coming period and enable them to exchange the experience.
During the conference the defence attachés were addressed by the Serbian Defence Minister, Mr Dragan Šutanovac, who reminded them of the priorities of foreign and defence policy of the Republic of Serbia, and pointed to the expectations of the Ministry of Defence from their involvement. The Ministry of Defence, in accordance with the planned objectives and tasks, expects from the military diplomatic representatives in the forthcoming period to contribute to the knowledge of the state leadership about the situation in the region and the world, from their point of view, thus influencing the strengthening of security of the Republic of Serbia. They should put maximum efforts in the enhancement of bilateral military cooperation, especially at the regional level, recognition of the Republic of Serbia as a member of the Partnership for Peace, promotion of the country’s contribution to international peace and security and military economic cooperation. Besides the Minister of Defence, Mr Dragan Sutanovac, the participants of the conference were addressed by the Chief of SAF GS Lt Gen Miloje Miletic and other executives from the MoD and SAF.
Although the Republic of Serbia has a relatively small number of defence missions, their previous work has confirmed the importance they have for accomplishing the defined objectives and recognition of the Republic of Serbia and its defence system. At the international level, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces became a reliable and respected partner in both bilateral and multilateral relations.
