Meeting between Minister Vučević and Greek Ambassador Levanti



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Serbia, Maria Levanti, today.
Minister Vučević thanked Greece for its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, and for its continued support for Serbia on its EU path. He noted that Greece’s non-recognition of Kosovo was a sign of a friendly attitude towards Serbia, and at the same time an indicator of the official Athens’ consistency in respecting the sovereignty of other countries.  The Minister of Defence added that Serbia viewed Greece as a significant international partner and an EU member with which it traditionally had the closest relations.

Minister Vučević emphasized that bilateral military cooperation with Greece was highly developed and that the focus of defence cooperation between the two countries was military to military cooperation, as well as military-educational cooperation, which was reflected in the training and professional development courses taking place in the two countries’ educational centres.

He said that we would continue to foster and further improve close relations with Greece, as an important partner, in all areas of mutual interest. At today’s meeting, Minister Vučević invited the Greek Minister for National Defence to visit Serbia in order to open new chapters in cooperation and reaffirm mutual determination to help strengthen the relations between the two countries and nations by improving bilateral military cooperation.  
Ambassador Levanti expressed her hope that the development of mutually beneficial Serbian-Greek relations would continue. She also expressed her expectation that during her term in Serbia, she would contribute to the development of cooperation in the fields of defence, transport and energy.
