Minister Vučević: The number of Special Forces will be increased from 1,500 to 5,000

The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić has given orders to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, to increase the number of Special Forces in the Serbian Armed Forces from 1,500 to 5,000 by the end of 2023. Minister Vučević has said that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces will carry out those orders.
- I want to inform the Serbian public, and not only Serbian, that last night General Mojsilović, the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, and I received an order from the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander to increase the number of Special Forces, i.e. the personnel who will receive special training at the Serbian Armed Forces, from 1,500 to 5,000 by the end of 2023. The idea is for the Serbian Armed Forces to have 5,000 highly trained and fully prepared soldiers, NCOs and officers who have completed the most up-to-date theoretical and practical training, who have state-of-the-art weapons and military equipment and who are ready to defend the homeland and carry out any task at any time and in any part of our territory. Those 5,000 soldiers will be ready to respond to all the challenges facing our homeland. Those 5,000 specially trained SAF soldiers will be a tight “fist” that will smash to smithereens the ill wishes and malevolent goals of those who do not love our country and who want to harm our people and our citizens. Both the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence will carry out the task given to them by the President of the Republic, and by the end of 2023, members of our special units will be much better paid, better equipped and better trained, so that they can always be capable of protecting our homeland - said Minister Vučević.
