Press conference regarding the success of military athletes



On the occasion of the great success of the Serbia military national team in the first Winter Military World Games which were held in the Italian ski resort Val d'Aosta between 20 and 25 March, there has been held a press conference in the Sports Centre of the Military Academy attended by State Secretary Zoran Jefti?, head of the Serbian Delegation to the International Council for Military Sports (CISM) and the sports teas of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Congratulating our athletes on the achieved results, Secretary of State Jefti? emphasized that the success of this team, which was professionally organized and prepared for the competition in Kopaonik, represents a reflection of our aspirations to cherish winter sports as well.

- The success that our competitors achieved is an indication of further development of Alpine and Nordic disciplines among the members of the Serbian Armed Forces. Those who are the most successful will be able to continue to compete in major international sports events – Zoran Jefti? said.
The State Secretary pointed out that our team in the competition in Italy, in the organizational and professional sense, was not behind other teams, and that the success of the Serbian athletes was expected, having in mind their talents and work invested.

He also announced a sports championship of the Serbian Armed Forces, which, at the same time, will be a qualifying competition for participation of our team in the Military Olympic Games next year. In addition, Jeftic talked about the arrangement of training grounds for winter sports in Kopaonik, which has all the capabilities to be representative area for training athletes. He also announced CISM Symposium in September in Belgrade – Drafting the Development Strategy of CISM by 2015, as well as the participation of our athletes in the First International Cadet Military Games in Ankara in October 2010.
On the occasion of the Serbian military athletes’ successes, Defence Minister Dragan Šutanovac received today members of the Serbian military national team that participated in the first Winter Military World Games.
