Military Academy Cadets on Loaded March

Today, as part of their training, cadets of the final year of the Military Academy went to a loaded march from the barracks “General Jovan Mišković” on Banjica, to the house of the Field Marshal Stepa Stepanović in Kumodraž and back, in the total length of 13 kilometres.

According to Cadet Brigade Commander Colonel Milan Končar, the primary objective of that activity is to enhance physical fitness of both cadets and unit superior officers.
  - Apart from increasing the level of physical fitness, this activity is important for superior officers to advance their organisation skills, and skills in preparing and conducting loaded marches, which are periodically held as part of cadets’ regular training - Colonel Končar said and added that several similar activities had been conducted on training areas of the Military Academy as a unique preparation for this march through an urban environment.

The Cadet Brigade Commander pointed out that, in the course of the execution of such training elements, the cadets had the opportunity to gain experience regarding the manner of organisation of marches, which is of particular importance for future officers.

- That is a one of the kind preparation for their professional career. Today the march was executed by the 144th Class of the Military Academy, and soon enough they will find themselves in the roles that their Class Commander and platoon commanders performed today. Anyway, march is always organised to cover a particular topic, and today’s march is dedicated to the glorious historical figure, our renowned Field Marshal Stepa Stepanović - Colonel Končar said.
In the house where Field Marshal Stepa was born, the cadets were welcomed with traditional customs by friends from the amateur Cultural-Artistic Assembly, and the host of that building that cherishes the memory of the glorious warlord, Aleksa Vladaćić held a special lesson in history.

- I am happy to receive the visit from the young Serbian knights today. We wanted to welcome them as good hosts, and to tell them that the visit from honourable guardians of our fatherland has gladdened our hearts, and I spoke to them about the life path of the great Field Marshal Stepa and about what he used to say to his soldiers - the host of the house, Aleksa Vladaćić, explained.

On behalf of the Military Academy, the Cadet Brigade Commander, Colonel Milan Končar, presented a recognition to the host of the house for his contribution and support to the realisation of tasks of that institution, and a scroll of honour was awarded to the President of the Cultural-Artistic Assembly, Vladan Životić, who, thanking the future officers “for standing on the barrier of the fatherland”, stated that the mission of the Cultural-Artistic Assembly, cherishing national dances and songs, was to stand on the barrier of traditional calues and culture of our country.

Rain and cold weather did not distract the cadets, and they, brimming with nice impressions, completed the march at the training area of the Military Academy, on the very same spot where from they had departed several hours earlier.
A cadet of the final year of the Military Academy, Jovana Jovanović says that the march was not tiresome, but a rather interesting experience.

- I wish we had more of such activities, because this truly contributes to physical fitness, collective spirit and it develops our soldier’s personality - Jovana stated adding that she was glad to have had the opportunity to see the house of glorious Field Marshal Stepa.

Her colleague, Đorđe Pešić said that it was his honour to come to such a place, at the same time performing a very important activity.
  - The initiative launched by the Military Academy to organise such activities is quite valuable - the cadet of the final year pointed out and added that there had been a good energy among the colleagues, and that they were strongly motivated to visit together and in that way such an important historical site related to the glorious Serbian Field Marshal Stepa Stepanović.
