Force Protection Platoon undergoes training prior to deployment to UNIFIL

A force protection platoon is currently undergoing intensive collective training at the "South" Base and "Borovac" Training Ground near Bujanovac before it deploys to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
This field training is one of the segments of months-long preparations that members of this unit, subordinate to the Training Command, go through, so as to be fully trained for performing mandated tasks in this peacekeeping operation.

This training phase simulates conditions similar to those in the mission, and the force protection platoon is playing out likely scenarios that it might face while carrying out tasks in the area of operation. The training program comprises physical and tactical training, with an emphasis on securing the base and international humanitarian law topics.
In early December, a tactical exercise will be held so as to evaluate the force protection platoon’s interoperability and competence for participating in UNIFIL.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon to UNIFIL since 2014. The primary mission of our unit, which is part of the Italian Contingent in Sector "West", is securing the base where the UN forces are stationed.
