Minister Vučević in Novi Pazar: The military has the capability, desire and courage to help

Today, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces, under orders by the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić, were urgently deployed to Novi Pazar and Tutin to help the residents of these two towns affected by floods caused by heavy rain. This afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited the first responders - the members of the Second Army Brigade.
After visiting the flood-stricken areas, Minister Vučević said that the Serbian Armed Forces would meet all requests of the municipal leadership to the best of their abilities, which he estimated as exceptional, and that they had the desire and courage to do so.

- We have seen once again how unpredictable nature is and how quickly it can change its mood. The most important thing is that all competent state and local institutions work together to protect human lives and citizens' property. For us, it makes no difference whether something like this happens in Novi Pazar, Tutin or any other part of our Republic. The police, the Sector for Emergency Management, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, are working together with the municipal leaderships and citizens to save everything that can be saved and repair what was destroyed or damaged - said Vučević.
He warned all competent authorities to be vigilant and monitor the meteorological conditions in the coming hours and days and said that everyone would complete their tasks up to expectations.

- The President of the Republic has given the order to the Serbian Armed Forces and the Chief of the General Staff, General Mojsilović, has executed it. The Serbian Armed Forces have made their resources available to the local self-governments here in Novi Pazar and Tutin. Everything that the municipal leadership asks for that is within the military’s capabilities, and their capabilities are exceptional, combined with their courage and desire to help, will be done - said the Minister of Defence.
The Chief of the General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, said that the Serbian Armed Forces had established communication with the representatives of local authorities in Novi Pazar and Tutin.

- Speaking about precipitation, the situation seems to be stabilizing. However, large torrential streams have caused great damage not only in Novi Pazar but downstream, in the lower course of the Jošanica River, all the way to Raška. I expect the water level of the Ibar River to rise all the way to Kraljevo. In a very short time, the rain has caused a lot of damage and the Serbian Armed Forces’ priorities will be to save peoples’ lives, not only in Novi Pazar, but in the entire region, and protect material assets - said General Mojsilović.
