New issue of “Odbrana“

The November issue of “Odbrana” magazine abounds with interesting topics.  Besides the most important activities at the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, including the appointment of Miloš Vučević as the new Minister of Defence, we recommend to you two excellent interviews.

The “Interview with a Cause” section includes the interview with Patrick Besson, a French author and columnist, a proven friend of Serbs, who has presented his new book at the 65th Belgrade International Book Fair. In an interview he has given to our magazine he reveals, among other things, what he thinks and writes about. "I write for the truth-sensitive people ", he said.
The second interview included in the Global section presents Branko Milanović, PhD, a professor at the City University of New York, an expert on global poverty, income inequality, and social policy.

The Standpoint section is dedicated to the 1st Army Brigade. In our conversations with the officers serving with that unit, we learned why this brigade is “the first” in everything.

The central theme of the System section is armoured units, which we present to you on the occasion of the Armoured Units Day. We have accompanied them on joint exercise Manoeuvres 2022, written down the words of Brigadier General Zoran Nasković, the First Army Brigade Commander, who heads the Armoured Forces Council, and visited "Orešac", which has been the armoured units’ training area since its formation in 1972.
We have also visited the Central Logistics Base, the largest logistics unit of the Logistics Department, General Staff, which celebrates its anniversary on November 16.

This issue includes reports on two expert meetings – the 10th International Conference on Defence Technologies – OTEH, which is traditionally held at the Military Technical Institute, and the National Symposium on a Multidisciplinary Approach to the Treatment of Covid-19 Patients, which was held at the Military Medical Academy.

This time, the Arsenal section presents the latest news on weapons – Iranian drones and a new version of American Abrams X tank.

The Global section provides an account of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party and the continuation of China's development.

The central theme of the Culture section is the 65th Belgrade International Book Fair. We have covered the participation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at this exceptionally well-attended 8-day event, including the promotions of books published by Media Centre "Odbrana".
We have also covered an interesting campaign launched by Military Grammar School students – the Revival of Reading.

On the occasion of the World War II Victims Remembrance Day, the History section recalls the reprisals against civilians in Šabac, Kraljevo and Kragujevac, and the Traditions section goes back a century - to 1922 - when the River Flotilla first celebrated its Patron Saint Day, Saint Luke.

The Occasions section contains an article about the visit of the Public Relations Department delegation to Algeria. We also proudly present our participation in the 42nd Congress of the European Military Press Association (EMPA), which was held in Helsinki, Finland. At the congress, "Odbrana" magazine received the award for the best photo published in European military newspapers and magazines for the second time in a row. The awarded photo features the training of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade as seen through the lens of Predrag Vučković.

A legal advisor answers one of your questions in this issue as well – this time regarding the legal position of members of the defence system in multinational operations.
