Serbian military athletes in the First Winter Military World Games



At the Military Academy, in the presence of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Dr Zoran Jeftic, the representation of our military forces was seen off to the First Winter Military World Games, which will be held from 20 to 25 March in the Italian ski resort of Valle d'Aosta.

Sixteen members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces – officers, NCOs, cadets, active and reserve soldiers, will participate in the alpine programme (slalom and giant slalom) and Nordic disciplines (ski-orienteering, cross-country and biathlon) in the women's and men's competitions. They compete with the members of the armed forces from fifty countries, fifty-six of which won medals at the recently concluded Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

After a group sport greeting, the State Secretary Jeftic stressed the importance of presence of the Serbian military athletes in the first Winter Military World Games in history.

- We are proud to follow our representation for which we have done all our best in terms of the logistic support and organization. I hope that, after the successfully conducted preparations, our skiers and Nordic skiers will achieve outstanding results in the competition.

- Thanking the donors for their assistance and support, Jeftic pointed out also that it was for the first time that the Military Medical Academy was involved in preparations and actively monitored the condition of our best alpine athletes.
