Specialized scout training

Soldiers who have been performing their military service in reconnaissance units as of June this year are undergoing intensive training at the "Peskovi" training ground and in "General Pavle Jurišić Šturm" barracks in Požarevac.
This specialized training aims to teach them how to handle weapons and military equipment used in SAF reconnaissance units and fully master tactical actions needed for efficiently conducting combat actions as part of reconnaissance groups and teams.

The focus is on practising actions undertaken by reconnaissance patrols during battlefield observation and intelligence gathering, learning orientation skills and navigation on unfamiliar terrain using a map, conducting firing practices using infantry weapons and exercises using mines and explosive ordnance.
Scouts receive individual specialized training at the Army Training Centre which lasts for two and a half months due to the complexity of their future roles. The results achieved so far indicate that this is another class of highly motivated soldiers, which provides a good pool for selecting candidates to be assigned to SAF reconnaissance units as professional soldiers.
