Minister Stefanović: Serbia will never forget heroes who laid down their lives defending their homeland



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has reminded that today marks 23 years since the end of one of the most bitter battles in our country’s recent history, the Battle of Košare, the symbol of resistance against the enemy during the NATO aggression in 1999.
- Fearless Serbian soldiers resisted the attacks for two months. The brave heroes with big hearts did not back down, they loved their country more than life. Twenty-one officers and NCOs, 50 young men who were doing their military service, 13 conscripts and 24 volunteers were killed in Košare. The total number of wounded fighters was 256.

Serbia must not and will not forget the heroes who laid down their lives defending their homeland. Our country is small but proud – proud of its glorious history, fearless military and love for the homeland. Heroes live forever! May their memory live forever! – wrote Minister Stefanović on his Facebook profile.
