St. Sava ball

The great St. Sava ball organized by the “Diva donation” fund and the Fund of Solidarity and under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense was held on Friday, 29 January in the SAF Central Club.

The ball was attended by the Minister of Defense, Dragan Sutanovac, Undersecretaries Zoran Jeftic, PhD and Igor Jovicic and numerous persons from the political, cultural, public, and economic life of Serbia.

The ball was opened by Archbishop of Backa Irinej who pointed to the significance of St. Sava during his address.

It is a great joy to be able to celebrate this great day dedicated to Saint Sava in a friendly environment and this ball is part of a national celebration”, as Archbishop Irinej said reminding the present that St. Sava was a symbol of our cultural and national identity.

- He was also the main person to be involved in international cooperation in those times. His holy persona still teaches us to cherish all those values he acted upon and lived by.

Archbishop Irinej also emphasized what a great pleasure it was to see the funds raised would be donated to the children of our soldiers killed in wars, who laid the most precious gift of life to the altar of their homeland, well aware that this was a battle of David versus Goliath.
-These brave men showed their readiness to sacrifice their lives.
The guests were also welcomed by the Public Relations Department Chief Navy Captain Petar Boskovic.

- I hope that this ball will become a tradition and w3ill continue to promote the spirit of charity. I am sure that the funds will be well used and will go into the right hands.
