Minister Dacic gives a lecture to the students of the School of National Defense

Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac with his coworkers from Mod and SAF CHOD attended the lecture given by Deputy Prime Minister and the Interior Minister Ivica Dacic to the students of the 53rd class of staff command college and to 56th class of students of HQ command college.

The lecture titled “Security of the Republic of Serbia, system, organization, challenges and risks” was also attended by the officers form the BiH, Macedonian, and Montenegrin armed forces, who are attending a one-year studies in the School of National Defense.

In terms of global security, Minister Dacic stressed that the national security is affected and under the influence of security in the surrounding countries.

- Transnational and asymmetrical challenges that modern risks bring have spanned from the military affairs to economic, technological, ecological, general and individual securities. Every country is faced with traditional and new challenges based on large-scale differences in economic, social and cultural development resulting in poverty, ethic and religious extremism. Terrorism, organized crime, WMD proliferation, trafficking and illegal migrations, unforeseen scale of climate change and an ever growing deficit of energy sources all pose threats to safety and security. All these risks become unpredictable, and transnational and asymmetrical. In the case of Serbia, the cause of security threats is the unilateral declaration of Kosovo independence, and the recognition Kosovo received by certain countries affects the efforts to build trust.

He took this opportunity to present the role of the Ministry of Interior as well as the system and organization of state institutions of Serbia which counter security challenges in an organized and effective way.

Minister Dacic mentioned that the cooperation between the two ministries had reached the highest level in the last two decades, and Minister Sutanovac had concurred with this assessment, who thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for a lengthy and valuable lecture.
Cooperation is at a very high level which has been confirmed by the reorganization of the Department for Contingency Situations which is now a part of the Ministry of the Interior, as Sutanovac pointed out stressing that Mod and SAF member were deployed in peace missions all over the world just as it is done by the Police as this promotes Serbia and proves its capability to preserve peace and stability.
