Minister Stefanović: Better status for soldiers under contract

BELGRADE, September 13 (Tanjug) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović said today that the standard of living of soldiers under contract is one of the important issues he wants to address and improve.

"I work hard every day, together with my colleagues in the Ministry, to find a solution that would guarantee these people a further career in the armed
forces and I hope that we will soon be able to present a model they will be satisfied with. Soldiers are most important to us because they are the strength of the armed forces and their most important resource," Stefanović told Tanjug.

He said that as of today, soldiers under contract will be able to take out housing and other loans with Poštanska Štedionica Bank.

"Today, I can tell them the good news that the Ministry of Defence has reached an agreement with Poštanska Štedionica Bank, allowing soldiers under contract to take out housing loans, car loans and other types of loans up to 40,000 euros, to which other permanently employed servicemen are also entitled", said Stefanović.

According to him, this is only the first step in improving the standard of living of soldiers and all members of the Ministry of Defence.

"It is important to me that every day we look for and find new solutions for providing a better standard of living for all employees, soldiers and members of the Ministry of Defence," said Stefanović.
