Minister Stefanović meets with Hungarian Minister of Defence Benkő

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, is in Budapest, where the joint session of the governments of Serbia and Hungary was held. Prior to the session, Minister Stefanović had a bilateral meeting with the Hungarian Minister of Defence, Dr. Tibor Benkő.  The two ministers agreed that the defence cooperation between the two countries is quite substantial and that both countries are committed to improving it further. As they said, the most important areas are military to military cooperation, which is reflected in joint exercises and participation in multinational exercises, and military-technical cooperation.

Minister Stefanović said that Serbia, as a neutral country, continues to pursue a balanced defence policy and to work on the development of cooperation with all states and international organizations, in keeping with its national interests and foreign policy priorities. According to him, one of those priorities is regional cooperation, and that is why our country strives to strengthen its security through activities within regional initiatives and organizations, and at the same time makes a contribution to the stability in the region.
