Sports Unit member Jovana Preković wins Olympic gold



A member of the MOD Sports Unit, civilian Jovana Preković, has won a gold medal in the women’s -61 kg karate at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, congratulated Jovana saying:

"Well done, dear Jovana! You have made everyone in Serbia extremely happy! Your medal shines brightly. You have shown a heroic fight and a very big heart!

You are our pride! SERBIA"- wrote Minister Stefanović on his Instagram account (@nebojsa__stefanovic).

Preković, the current European and world -61 kg karate champion, defeated Moroccan Btisam Sadini, Peruvian Grande Risco and Ukrainian Anita Serogina in the group stage, placing first in the semi-finals.
  She beat Turkish Merve Coban in the semi-finals and China's Yin Xiaoyan in the finals.

Jovana Preković has won the seventh medal for our country at the Olympic Games and the first Olympic gold among the members of the Sports Unit.
