Minister Stefanović visits construction site for new Covid hospital in Novi Sad

This morning, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, visited the construction site for a new Covid hospital in Mišeluk, the suburb of Novi Sad. The Minister said he was pleased that the construction was going according to plan and once again called on all citizens to get vaccinated.
  - Everything we can see here is really impressive. When you talk to people they say it is growing like a weed and it really is. Construction began in May, and now plastering is already being done in one part of the building. Everything is progressing really fast, and these people have made an effort to meet the deadline we set, which is September 1, and the hospital should be fully operational by then - Stefanović said.

He thanked the Military Construction Institution staff, the director, Dejan Burčul, and all the other employees of the "Termomont" company, the City of Novi Sad and everyone who helped make this project so magnificent.

- I was impressed with the number of people working here every day, from morning till night, thus showing that we really care about our people. The tasks given to us by Aleksandar Vučić when we started building the first Covid hospitals, are being carried out here with full strength, and Serbia is ready for any situation - the Minister of Defence said.

According to him, we are doing our best to prevent such situations and an increase in the number of Covid cases, but if needed, this hospital will serve its purpose and we will be able to help people.
  - Of course, we hope to defeat Covid-19 soon so that this hospital can take on a different role, i.e. become one of Novi Sad’s city hospitals - Stefanović said.

After talking to workers today and making sure they understood why it had to be done so quickly, he thanked them for being on this construction site day and night.

- They understand very well that this is a fight for health, that their work is important and that finishing this building before the deadline means preserving health and saving some people's lives - Minister Stefanović emphasized.

He said he was particularly pleased to see such strong commitment and sense of responsibility.

- As the Minister of Defence, I am also proud to see how well our local self-government system and investor work, as well as the military system, of course. I can see that everything that President Vučić promised the citizens is being fulfilled here, and I am really proud of that - Minister Stefanović concluded.

The Minister of Defence once again called on all citizens to get vaccinated.

- It is important to be responsible and to show that we respect doctors and all the people who fight against Covid-19, by getting vaccinated and thus making sure that we, our families and all our relatives are healthy - Minister Stefanović pointed out.

According to him, this way we are helping doctors and medical staff who fight every day in similar hospitals throughout Serbia, and by making sure that we do not end up in hospital, or have severe symptoms, we make their job easier.

At the end of his visit, Stefanović had breakfast with the workers.

The modern Covid hospital in Novi Sad will have 19,500 square metres, more than 600 beds, 220 of which intensive care beds, and the completion of works is planned for September 1, 2021.
