Final Preparations for Tank Biathlon

The tankmen of the Serbian Armed Forces have started the final phase of preparations for their participation in the International Military Games in the event the Tank Biathlon – a prestigious competition to be held on the training ground Alabino in the vicinity of Moscow in late August and early September. That will be the eighth appearance of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Tank Biathlon, with expected participation of more than 20 countries.

In the final phase of the preparations conducted on the training ground “Pasuljanske Livade” the firing is integrated from the overall collective tank armament. On the basis of the achieved firing results, the speed and quality of preparations for the firing and the work of the crew as a whole, three competitive and one reserve teams will be chosen that will represent the Serbian Armed Forces in the Russian Federation. The format of the Tank Biathlon is the same as the last year with minor changes. The tank crews are tasked to cross a 4100 metre-long track in as short time as possible, to correctly overcome obstacles on the track and hit targets from a tank gun, coaxial and anti-aircraft machine-gun. The competition consists of an individual race, semi-relay race and final relay race.

The success in this competition demands exceptional physical fitness of the competitors so every day after the practicing on tanks they are undergoing physical training as well. Though the preparations have been lasting for three months now, the working zeal, enthusiasm and a wish for the improvement of skills are visible during training.
