Minister of Defence extends greetings on the occasion of Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service Day

I extend warm greetings to all members of the Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service on 18 June – their Service Day.

On this day in 1915, the Serbian Supreme Command issued an Order to form permanent surveillance signal stations, in order to mark the enemy aircraft’s flight direction. Based on that, several stations were established in the then Third Army in the regions of the Drina, Timok and Combined Divisions.

Continuing a long tradition, thanks to good training and a high level of professionalism, you successfully address all the challenges you face with, contributing to the functioning of the air surveillance and early warning system, and thus strengthening the Air Force and Air Defence of the Serbian Armed Forces.

I wish you a happy holiday, hoping that you will be able to bring our air surveillance and early warning system closer to the standards of the European airborne early warning and control systems by purchasing new radar equipment and vehicles.
