Minister received the EU Council delegation



Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac received the delegation of the EU council led by Mr. Robert Cooper, General Director for the EU Council foreign and political-military affairs.

The Minister repeated that the EU membership was one of Serbia’s main goals and stressed that the visa liberalization was an important step towards approximating Serbia to EU.

He introduced the delegation with the current security and political situation in our country as well as with the plans for the reform of the defense system?

Emphasizing the importance of promoting relations with EU, the Ministry of Defense, as he stated, was striving to strengthen its institutional capacities, and to provide resources necessary to involve it in activities of collective security and defense policy.

Furthermore, the Minister informed the EU Council delegation of the plans for the finalization of professionalization of SAF by the end of 2010. He also pointed out the importance of participation of SAF in peace missions, stressing that for the first time this year, based on the decision of the Serbian National Assembly, the medical team had taken part in the mission in Chad within the Norwegian contingent.
