Research conference "Skills SAF officers need"



State Secretary Zoran Jeftic opened a two-day international research conference “Skills SAF officers need 2010-2020” which is being held in the House of Guards in Topcider.

The conference was also attended by State Secretary Igor Jovicic, LTG Miloje Miletic, SAF CHOD Director of the Institute for Strategic Research LTG Milan Zaric and the Head of the Military Academy Brig. Gen. Mladen Vuruna.

In his welcome address, State Secretary Jeftic stressed that a future SAF officer should live up to all the standards of the most advanced armies in the world.. as he pointed out, a Serbian officer should be ready to command a professional establishment of units with a proper deployment of weapons.

–The reform processes established a new organization in the army. We strive to improve the level of interoperability, to achieve technical modernization and a gradual professionalization of our armed forces. Our army will become a reliable partner to the other armies, and will be able to successfully participate in curbing all forms of security threats.

As regards the importance of the Military Academy to the defense system of Serbia, Jeftic informed the conference participants that the final stage of establishing a Military University was under way. This entails, as he explained, that all necessary agreements will be gathered and submitted at the shortest notice to the Government of Serbia.

The conference has gathered more than 40 presenters. Besides the representatives of MoD, SAF, the Ministry of Finance, their opinion of the skills needed by an SAF officer will be given by the guests from foreign military academies and institutes including the reps of the Czech University of Defense, Croatian military university “Petar Zrinjski”, Slovakian military academy, French Military Academy “Saint Sere”, as well as the representatives of the Security Studies of UK, Belgium Royal Military Academy and the National University of Defense of Hungary “Zrinji Miklos”.
