Minister Stefanović: We did not forget the pogrom against the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija

On the anniversary of the March Pogrom against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, emphasizes that this is a difficult day for Serbia and the Serbian people.

“Today we mark and remember the pogrom against the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija that took place 17 years ago. We remember every name and surname, deserted homes of expelled families, all the killed Serbs who gave their lives for their homeland. We remember our destroyed and desecrated churches, destroyed frescoes and icons. We did not forget the ethnic cleansing and the criminal attempt to exterminate everything that is Serbian and Orthodox in Kosovo and Metohija”, Minister Stefanović said.

As he pointed out, it is our obligation to call things by their real names, not to hide behind dates.

“What hurts the most is the fact that the March Pogrom is only a date now without any consequences, that no one has been punished or prosecuted for that crime. The sacrifices made by the Serbian people will forever be a reminder that this crime must not be a crime without punishment," Stefanovic said.
