Minister Stefanović invites all young people to apply for military school places

Reminding all young people that this year’s competition for enrolment in military schools is open until 31 March, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, said today that there was a future for young people in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

“Young people have a very difficult and important decision to make about their future, they have to think clearly and thoroughly about what their future life path and vocation will be. Love of the homeland is the basic requirement that they have to meet if they opt for the honourable military profession and that is why I invite them again to apply and show that they love Serbia”, Stefanović said.

Minister Stefanović said that military schools were prestigious and offered excellent education, and unlike other schools, they offered numerous advantages, from free textbooks, accommodation and food to guaranteed employment upon graduation.
This year, there are 210 cadet places at the Military Academy and 40 at the Military Medical Academy’s Medical Faculty, as well as 90 student places at the Military Grammar School and 60 at the Secondary Vocational Military School.

Minister Stefanović said that young people had a number of reasons to choose military schools and become part of the defence system upon graduation, referring once again to investment and continuous strengthening of our armed forces.

“The state also invests in modernization and equipment, but also in improving our service members’ standard of living, starting from the construction of flats to salary increases. One of good indicators is Serbia’s ranking in the “Global Firepower” list which suggests that Serbia has leapt 28 places in just four years.  Serbia is thus ranked 61st among 139 countries, and it is best-ranked among former Yugoslav states”, Stefanović said.
