Cooperation between Serbian and Montenegrin ministries of defence

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, talked today via video call to the Minister of Defence of Montenegro Dr. Olivera Injac.

Minister Stefanović emphasized that the cooperation with the countries in the region was one of the Serbian government's priorities and underlined the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to improve the quality and scope of cooperation in the field of defence with Montenegro to the benefit of both countries, both bilaterally and in regional cooperation formats.

Serbia's foreign policy goal is EU integration, and thus the priority of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces is to participate in EU's Common Security and Defence Policy.
Minister Injac thanked the Serbian government for the donation of Covid-19 vaccines, which was warmly welcomed by the citizens of Montenegro.

She pointed out that in addition to being a NATO member, Montenegro was willing to develop cooperation with neighbouring countries that were not NATO members.

During today's conversation, the ministers agreed that it was necessary to intensify cooperation in the field of defence, especially bearing in mind traditional ties between Serbia and Montenegro.
