Minister Stefanović extends Christmas Eve greetings

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, extended best wishes to all members of the Serbian Armed Forces and our citizens who observe Christmas Eve and expressed hope that they would dedicate their time to their families today and spend this holiday in peace, happiness and prosperity.

Early this morning, Stefanović went to Dobanovci where he cut down a young oak tree (“badnjak”) which was blessed by Major Stevan Stevanović, a military chaplain serving in the Guard, and later brought it to the Ministry of Defence building. “Badnjak” will be brought inside the building in the evening in accordance with the tradition.
- When we talk about the tradition of the Serbian people, we must never forget our armed forces. They have always been with their people, always on the front line, whenever it was the most difficult, in the fight against the coronavirus and in emergency situations. Whenever their citizens needed them, members of the armed forces were there. I want us to devote special attention to them today and show that the state appreciates the fact that they always defend their homeland - because they are fighters, because they work hard and because they are true patriots," the Minister of Defence emphasized.

He extended best wishes to the members of the defence system and their families and expressed hope that they would spend this holiday in peace, contentment and in the warmth of their homes.

- We will do whatever we can to help them this year as well and show them that we are grateful for their sacrifices – Stefanović said.
