Minister Stefanović visits members of 63rd Parachute Brigade
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, accompanied by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Major General Petar Cvetković, visited the Command of the 63rd Parachute Brigade at the military airport “Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović“ in Niš.
Stefanović emphasized that the deep respect felt by the citizens of Serbia for their armed forces, and especially for the 63rd Parachute Brigade, proves that this unit earned this title in the past, and on the other hand it shows that much is expected from the 63rd Parachute Brigade in terms of the execution of all tasks related to the defence of our country and the citizens of the Republic of Serbia.At the beginning of today’s visit, Commander of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, Colonel Nenad Zonić, informed Minister Stefanović about all the plans related to this unit’s training.
- By the decision of President Vučić, this unit is again a brigade. In the previous period, this unit received new equipment that will facilitate their execution of tasks. Of course, there is much more we can do together. One of the tasks that I and the General Staff will assign my associates, is to try to provide this brigade with even more modern and better equipment, to facilitate their work here at the airport where they are located, but also to provide them with new vehicles and equipment that will make their transport faster and more efficient, and facilitate their combat action.
Minister Stefanović expressed his expectation that members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade will continue to fully commit themselves to the development of the security system in which Serbia will be even more secure, adding that they will have an unlimited support in achieving these goals.During today’s visit to the military airport “Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović”, Commander of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, Colonel Zonić, briefed Minister Stefanović about this unit’s purpose, tasks and current engagements.
Minister Stefanović also visited the 63rd Parachute Brigade’s Memorial Room and training facilities, and today’s visit ended with the presentation of a part of this unit’s capabilities.
