Stefanović: There is no indication of a security threat to Serbia

- At the moment, there is no indication of an immediate security threat to the citizens of Serbia – the Minister of Defence and the Secretary of the National Security Council Nebojša Stefanović said today.

At Tanjug’s request to assess the security situation in Serbia after the terrorist attacks in France, and now in Austria, Stefanović stated that, based on the information provided by competent security services, the Bureau for the Coordination of Security Services has made an extraordinary assessment determining that there are no immediate security threats at this time.

"Of course, it does not mean that our security services are sitting on their hands and leaving anything to chance, but are actively monitoring all events in the country and abroad and taking all measures within their competence to keep the security situation in the Republic of Serbia stable, and the citizens of Serbia safe”, Stefanović pointed out.

According to him, the Bureau for the Coordination of Security Services makes daily assessments of potential threats to the Republic of Serbia of both terrorism and all forms of extremist activity that might pose a security threat to our country, based on the information provided by the Security Information Agency, Military Security Agency, Military Intelligence Agency and Police Directorate.

Stefanović sent his heartfelt condolences to his colleagues in Austria and the families of the victims of terrorist attacks in the city centre of Vienna.
