Seminar on defense management
The Director of the Institute for Strategic Research LTG Milan Zaric, MSc opened today a seminar on defense management which is being held in Kovacica, near Pancevo until 13 November. Besides the representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian armed forces, the seminar, similar to that which was held for transition countries in Great Britain, is also attended by officers from the armies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Slovenia.
The purpose of this two-week seminar, organized in cooperation of the British and Serbian defense ministries is to familiarize the leading officers and members of defense ministries with the novelties in defense management in the region and Serbia. In the words of the director of the seminar dr Laura Cleary, of Cranfield University, the attendees will, among other things, be enabled to understand the existing concepts of security, to evaluate risks, and risks to the system of defense and the security system. They will also be able to recognize and improve the relations between the government and security sector management, to accept the methods of strategic leadership, and the principles and the techniques of effective management in institutions of security and to provide support to the government’s policy.
