H1N1 in the Military Grammar School

The Head of the Health Department in the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Veljko Todorovic, MD, confirmed yesterday that four students of the Military Grammar School had been diagnosed with the new flu type H1N1.

Brig. Gen. Todorovic said that all four students had been isolated, as well as all those they had been in contact with, who, as he said, display no signs of the flu.

In his words, all those diagnosed with the new flu, as well as other students suffering from the season fly or some other viral adenoinfection are in general good condition.

No one had experienced any problems with the lungs, sinuses or bronchial tubes, as he added.
“Other have displayed signs of acute respiratory infection, where a small number, probably those we have not proved yet, have also been infected with H1N1 virus. We can safely say that the epidemic has been placed under control, as yesterday we have had 8 new cases of infection, while today only tow new cases appeared.

Todorovic explained that in the last seven days the staff of the Military Grammar School had noticed an increased number f those suffering from a respiratory infection.

“Given the fact that WHO had declared a pandemic of the new flu several months ago, where an increased number of new cases is expected during this season, we have taken this case as a very serious one, and have taken all the necessary measures, with regard to quick diagnostic, isolating the infected and those who have been in contact with them even though they are not displaying any signs of the flu”, as Todorovic said.

He remarked that given the similarity in symptoms of the new flu and the seasonal flu, the clinical picture of the new flu is difficult to distinguish from the seasonal one , and there is all doubt that the number of infected is even higher.

However, this number is still lower than the number of those infected with the seasonal flu, or some other viral infection.
