Minister Vulin presented with a Plaque for Consistent Fight for the Survival of Serbs in Republika Srpska and the Countries of the Region

Today, the Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, was awarded a Plaque for exceptional contribution to the work of the Union of Krajina Associations, as well as a consistent fight for the survival of Serbs in Republika Srpska and the countries of the region, at the events “Krajina Srbs in Word and Image” and “To Peter on St. Peter’s Day”, held in the "Brvnara" Folk Park in Bački Jarak, under the auspices of the Union of Krajina Associations - Novi Sad, the Centre for the Preservation of Culture and Traditions of the Krajina Serbs and the Cultural Centre "Lukijan Mušicki" - Temerin.
The event "To Peter on St. Peter’s Day”, which commemorates the great Serbian writer Petar Kočić and his work, has been traditionally held in Bački Jarak on St. Peter’s Eve for more than two decades, but due to the epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus pandemic it was rescheduled for September and held along with the event "Krajina Srbs in Word and Image". According to the organizers, the goal of both events is to preserve the folk heritage of the Krajina Serbs and start a project aimed at marking the 75th anniversary of their resettlement in the direction of Pannonia, as well as a project aimed at expanding the “Brvnara” Folk Park and establishing the Krajina Cultural Centre on this side of the Drina.

- Serbs preserve their culture and tradition wherever they live and our diversity is our virtue and our strength. By the will of the great powers, and sometimes by their cowardice - the cowardice of past generations, Serbs do not live in one state, but they can and must be united in the political sense and make the most important decisions about their nation and themselves together, taking care of the entire Serbian people and making sure that it is in line with what they think should be done - said Minister Vulin after the events, adding that Belgrade and Serbia as the motherland, must be the ones to gather all Serbs.

Since Aleksandar Vučić started governing Serbia, Serbia has not turned its head away from Serbs who do not live in it, Minister Vulin points out, but looks after both Republika Srpska and all Serbs wherever they live.
  - For the first time in the history of our people, we drew up a binding document adopted by the Assembly, and that is the National Defence Strategy, which clearly states that the attack on Serbs is an attack on Serbia and that Serbia's strategic orientation is to preserve Republika Srpska. Serbs must be united. The fact that they do not live in the same country must not sway us. We are one nation, we must be united in political sense, and everything else will come by itself - says Minister Vulin.

The Plaque of the Union of Krajina Associations was also awarded to the Head of the Republika Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović and the President of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Igor Mirović.

The guests of the event were greeted on behalf of the organizers by the President of the Municipality of Temerin, Mladen Zec, and the President of the Union of Krajina Associations Ranka Srdić Milić, and soloists of the Opera of the Serbian National Theatre, Marija and Branislav Cvijić, the gusle player Vitomir Vulin, female folk choir “Hram” and Olivera Bolta, a singer of traditional songs, performed in the artistic part of the programme.
