General Miletic: Improving cooperation between the two countries

SAF CHOD LTG Miloje Miletic stated yesterday during his meetings with the UK military officials that both sides estimated that there was a number of possibilities for improving the cooperation between the two countries.

“During the visit to the UK Army Command we were acquainted with their engagement in peace operations, structure and the course of transformation, and these are experiences we will most certainly benefit from”, as General Miletic said.

General Miletic who is paying an official visit to UK as of Monday, remarked in a phone statement to TANJUG news agency that he had also had talks with Army CHOD General David Richards. “We both agreed that the military cooperation of our two armies was good, and that at this moment it involves the areas of military education and training, which is priority for us, however, there is still enough room for its improvement.

General Miletic added on this occasion that he had informed General Richards of “Serbia’s intent to take a more active role in multinational operations, mostly at the regional level and within the Partnership for Peace Program”.

,, I have asked for Great Britain’s support for further education of the members of our armed forces in military-educational institutions of Great Briatin”, as SAF CHOD said, adding that General Richards had offered his support.

Furthermore, as General Miletic said he had exchanged experiences on the current course of the transformation process and his host “had given him an in-depth info on the deployment of the British forces in multinational operations”.

“We both agreed that in the process of planning joint activities we place stress on training and partly on those experiences regarding the professionalization of an army”, as was stated by SAF CHOD.

As part of his visit, SAF CHOD visited the Center for Land Warfare, and his visit, the first at such a high military level to UK, will end with a tour of the Military Academy.
