Minister Vulin: The sincerity of condemnation of crimes is measured by sentences for the criminals

“After 25 years, Croatian state admitted that killing six unarmed elderly people had been a crime.  We also heard that shooting Serbian elderly people in the village of Grubory had caused damage to Croatia, but we have not heard that the operation “Storm”, in which they were slaughtered, was a crime. When you kill six old people, that is a damage for Croatia, but when you banish 250,000 Serbs and kill 2,000 Serbs, that is a cause for celebration”, stated Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin commenting on the speech of Croatian President Zoran Milanović at commemoration dedicated to Serbian civilian victims in Grubori near Knin who were killed in 1995 in the criminal operation the “Storm”.

“We have heard all sorts of things, but we have not heard the words of apology, and we have not heard the words of explanation as regards why it took 25 years to admit the crime in Grubori. We have not heard why the Serbs have not been given an opportunity to return for 25 years now, and we have not heard why the criminals from Grubory were lawfully absolved of all responsibilities. The sincerity of condemnation is not measured by belated visits to cemeteries, but by court sentences to the murderers who dug the graves” – Minister Vulin stated.
