Ministar Vulin: If we keep quiet or forget Operation “Storm”, a new “Storm” will happen to us

- I still believe that Mr Milošević will understand where he is being taken and why, that he will think not only about the Serbian people in Croatia, but about the Serbian people in general, that he will think about what message this is tothe Serbs living in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, that after this they will be asked to visit the graves of the members of KLA and to acknowledge everything that the latter asked for, and I ask the Croatian government once again – why don’t you improve the position of Serbs, why do you condition the position of Serbs bythem acknowledging that Operation “Storm” was free from sin and that it is a good thing that 250,000 of their compatriots were banished and 2,000 werekilled, why do you force the Serbian people to acknowledge that the Ustasha’ssavagery was for their own benefit and that we will reconcile if Serbs accept that all crimes against them were actually civilizational progress, and that Croats did not commit a single crime and why did the Jews never say that there were two sides and that they should kneel at each other’s graves, which Serbs are expected to do now – said the Minister of Defence, AleksandarVulin, today on the morning program of Television “Pink” regarding the announced departure of the Independent Democratic Serbian Party (SDSS) official and the Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia, Boris Milošević, to Knin to mark the anniversary of Operation “Storm”.

- And let Milošević tell us what exactly will improve, what he will gain. The hatred will not stop, because any flattery to the Ustasha comes down to the Ustasha asking for something else in the end - the Minister of Defence emphasized and told Milošević that the request next year will be to come and say that there was no ethical cleansing after all.

Minister Vulin said that this year, on the 25th anniversary of the criminal Operation “Storm”, the suffering of Serbs will be marked in an adequate way.

- I will remind you that President Vučić is our first statesman who has marked Operation “Storm” in an adequate way. It was in Rača when, together with President Dodik, he laid a wreath on the river, when he finally said at that moment what we had kept silent about for years – about that terrible crime, about that horror which befell Serbian people, about the Ustasa’s savagery which has never been punished – says Minister Vulin and emphasizes that nobody disputes the truth that President Vučić had the courage to tell and that we repeat every year, but they dispute the tone and question whether it should have been said or not for the sake of good neighbourly relations.

He also drew attention to the hatred that has been directed towards President Vučić from Croatia almost daily, for years, explaining that it is because “the Croatian politics absolutely recognizes Serbs who do good to Serbia and Serbs and always attacks them the most and pours out the most intense hatred upon them”.
Minister Vulin wonders what kind of reconciliation can be spoken about and what we should reconcile about, if Croatia does not acknowledge the crimes that it committed. He added that Croatia’s message is that Operation “Storm” is free from sin.

- There is always struggle and it is difficult for us to prove that an EU member country nurtures fascist values, that it laughs at and ridicules the largest concentration camp in this part of Europe, “Jasenovac”, that it brings back Ustasa values – pointed out the Minister of Defence and added that “every act of fascism is a great shame and to allow fascism to develop only when it is directed towards Serbia speaks of the terrible shame of the European Union which is silent about it”

Minister Vulin says that even the Hague Tribunal, of which he thinks the worst, considers “Storm” a war crime, but no one is responsible for that crime.

- As if Operation “Storm” had been rain which killed 2,000 Serbs and banished 250,000. It was a horror but no one is responsible for that horror. It is something that Serbs will always have to carry and that they must never forget. We have forgotten Jasenovac. We kept quiet about Jasenovac so “Storm” took place, if we keep quiet about “Storm”, a new “Storm” will take place. We must not be silent and forget – says Minister Vulin.
