Goran Cegar wins Novi Sad marathon

Athlete and a member of the Military Academy Senior Sergeant Goran Cegar won the Serbian championship in marathon which was held on 11 October as part of 17th Novi Sad marathon. The 42.195 m track Cegar finished with a three minute upper hand than the second placed Nebojsa Milinkovic from the Belgrade athletic club, and it took him a minute more than Nebojsa Ognjanovic, a member of the Gendarmerie, who came in third.

– The marathon is the most difficult athletic discipline and I extremely pleased that I have become state champion. The conditions were not that favourable, since it was rainy and windy, and an additional disadvantage was the fact that I ran a large portion of the track by myself. Still, this is a very important victory for me as I ran my first marathon exactly 15 years ago in Novi Sad.

Ever since the start of the race, the SAF member was leading the athletes, and he was 8-9 minutes in advantage in comparison to other contestants.

This is just another in the line of his successes, as Cegar won the Novi Sad semi-marathon in March this year, and has now won on the track twice as long.

The teams from the Military Academy and SAD in a relay race alos achieved significant results.
