SAF medical team leaves for CHAD peacekeeping mission



Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Army Lieutenant General Miloje Miletic with his associates today at the Center for Peacekeeping Operations greeted 21 members of MoD and SAF, which go to the UN peacekeeping mission in Chad and Central African Republic (MINURCAT).

The Medical Team is made up of 21 members of MOD and SAF, which will replace the first group of which went to the mission in June this year. Members of the Serbian armed forces might also treat members of the peacekeeping mission and local residents in the area of operation of the mission.

- This may be a small step for you, but huge for the state, said Sutanovac and he hinted that in the future they should consider participation in other missions, in order to reposition on the world map again thus making it recognizable for its participation in peacekeeping operations.

- We are not only making a brand, not only a military one, but also help people in crisis areas-stressed the Minister.

Minister of introduced other members of the peacekeeping mission to some details of the reform of military health care, and thanked them in the end on behalf of all who had voted in the Parliament for this mission wishing them a successful realization of this task.

MoD and SAF members have participated in the peacekeeping operation MINURCAT in Chad and Central African Republic since June this year with the medical team in the field hospital located within the Norwegian contingent.
