The temporary hospital at the Belgrade Fair is closing down

The temporary hospital at the Belgrade Fair, which was established by the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces for the reception of patients with mild symptoms of the coronavirus disease, will not be admitting new patients as of today.

The coordinator of the temporary hospital at the Fair, Colonel Veljko Milić, MD, explains that 103 patients are accommodated in that hospital, and today a part of them will be transported to the hospital in Mladenovac.
  - The first 46 patients will be transported today to the Special Hospital for Internal Diseases in Mladenovac, while the remaining 57 are waiting for the results of yesterday's testing. If the results are negative, they will be transported to their homes by ambulance and will be isolated for 14 days. If the results are positive, they will also be transferred to the hospital in Mladenovac - said Colonel Milić and pointed out that the closure of the hospital at the Fair means that as of today, there will be no more admission of new patients to that hospital.

According to him, the first patients were admitted to the hospital at the Fair on 29 March. During all that time, as he pointed out, none of the staff of the temporary hospital were infected.

- None of the medical staff and logistics support staff at the hospital got sick and that is our remarkable success - Colonel Milić emphasized.

Since the Belgrade Fair was turned into a temporary hospital, about 1,300 Covid-positive patients have been accommodated there, and 620 health professionals have taken care of them.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces provided logistics support and external security to the temporary hospital, as well as 3,000 beds, while the Ministry of Health was responsible for providing medical care.
