RESOLUTE RESPONSE 2009



Joint Tactical Exercise “Resolute Response 2009” is being conducted in the period 2-13 October at Pester Plain. The main part of the exercise which encompasses all the most important contents was today attended by the President of Serbia Boris Tadic, Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, and the Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac, the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, the Minister without Portfolio Sulejman Ugljanin, CHOD LTG Miloje Miletic,CHOD of Montenegro Major General Dragan Milosavljevic,BiH CHOD Colonel General Miladin Milojcic, Brig. Gen. Shenol Alparslan, envoy of the Turkish CHOD, the members of the council for Security and Defense the attendees of the School of National Defense, ambassadors, representatives of the military diplomatic corps and numerous guests.

The President of Serbia said that after the adoption of strategic documents further reforms would be continued.
This would include the modernization of weapons and the technical equipment as well as providing the best living and working standards for the members of the police and SAF.

Tadic once again reiterated that Serbia’s Parliament had adopted the document on military neutrality and that we should always bear this in mind. The state will lead an active security policy, while taking into account all security processes in the region and in line with these processes will reach a decision regarding the ways of addressing current and future security risks and threats.


The President thanked the members of the army, as well as the police and local self-government since the exercise had shown an incredible potential of our security forces. He thanked international institutions which had demonstrated by attending the exercise that Serbia was a factor of stability in SEE, and that democracy was a predictable political factor in Serbia which means that the world can count on Serbia.

He expressed great pleasure with the results achieved in the “Resolute Response” exercise while congratulating all its participants.


images/_MG_1232.jpg" target="_blank">Minister Sutanovac said that this was the pinnacle of everything the army worked on in the previous year. this exercise, according to his estimate, had demonstrated a high level of operational capabilities and interoperability of the army and the police while expressing gratitude to all observers from aboard for coming as well as to the local self-government. As a continuation of civil-military cooperation, the army would build a road for the inhabitants of Pester plain as Sutanovac announced.

CHOD LTG Miloje Miletic stressed that this was the result of the professionalization process the defense system is undergoing at the moment and another confirmation that this process was on the right track.


Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said that this exercise showed that Serbia had a unified system of security stressing that both the Police and the Army were capable of fulfilling their constitutional obligations and authorities.

Brigadier General Milan Mojsilovic said that the “Resolute Response 2009” was the largest exercise conducted by SAF in 2009.

- The exercise is planned to be conducted in line with systematically implemented concept of training management which has taken force starting this year and represents the implementation of the evaluation process in building unit capabilities. The police force is also involved in the planning process and the process of realization of the exercise which has significantly enriched and enlarged the scope of the exercise,” as Mojsilovic said. In his words, the SAF GS’s decision points to the fact that the exercise and building of operational capabilities is a priority and a focal point in the general reform of the defense system
The exercise was conducted by Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command Brigadier General Milan Mojsilovic, while Colonel Dusan Stojanovic, commander of the second army brigade, is commanding the unit in charge of exercise activities.

The Ministry of Defense and the SAF GS planned the conducting of the exercise in combat shooting, as one of SAF main tasks. The purpose of the exercise is training and evaluation of staff work and the activities of SAF units in the field conditions, as all these tasks pertain to SAF first mission.

The exercise had 1000 participants of 2nd Army Brigade, of the Special Brigade, Mixed Artillery Brigade, Signaling Brigade, 5th battalion of the Military Police, 246th NBC protection battalion and 204th Air Force aviation base and the special anti terrorist unit and the Police Force Gendarmerie.

The tactical scenario is the threat posed to the territorial integrity of Serbia by provocations and border incidents with parallel terrorist actions in Serbia’s depth. The President’s factious decision on deploying SAF units marked the start of the exercise. This exercise has demonstrated effective cooperation and joint action of different branches and services of SAF. All tactical activities were presented realistically.
