Minister Vulin: Thanks to the Supreme Commander, the Third Air Defence Missile Battalion regained its name and place in the Serbian Armed Forces

Speaking on the Morning Show on "Pink" TV, the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin said that history can put things in their place and that the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, to the Third Missile Battalion of the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade took place exactly on the date when that battalion shot down an F-16 aircraft during the NATO bombing of our country in 1999.

- The Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, President Vučić, has visited the Third Missile Battalion. I want to thank him for giving back the Third Missile Battalion its name. The Third Missile Battalion is the famous battalion that shot down the "invisible" F-117 plane, the miracle that was thought impossible to shoot down. It also shot down an F-16. It destroyed an aircraft that could not be destroyed, but after 2000, the battalion was destroyed, too. They simply deleted its name – so that it would not upset, or irritate anyone, because someone could remember what that battalion had done - said Minister Vulin.

By getting its name back, the Third Air Defence Missile Battalion, as Minister Vulin says, “regained its name and place in the Serbian Armed Forces.“

- History is a miracle. History can find its own way, so it just so happened that on the day when the F-16 aircraft was shot down, the Supreme Commander came to visit the Third Missile Battalion, which had regained its place in the Serbian Armed Forces, and was greeted by the Commander of the 250th Missile Brigade, General Tiosav Janković, the man who had fired the missile that shot down the F-16. History has its own way of settling things - said Minister Vulin, adding that Serbia is much safer today than it used to be.
