Commemoration in memory of victims of Jajinci shooting ground



With the top state honors at Jajinci shooting ground near Belgrade, respects were paid to the victims perished in the working camp Jajinci in WWII. During the four war years, 80.000 Serbs, Roma, and Jews, members of the People’s Liberation War (NOR)and members of the antifascist movement perished here along with all others who never accepted occupation and provided active resistance to the occupying forces.

On behalf of the Government of Serbia, Rasim Ljajic, the Minister of Work and Social Policy, laid commemorative wreaths. The ceremony was also attended by the delegation of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces led by Colonel Miroslav Radosavljevic, the delegation of surviving camp prisoners and for the first time the delegation of Germany, thus demonstrating its solidarity to all the innocent victims of fascist occupation in Serbia and Europe.

This ceremony in Jajinci was also attended by numerous citizens and more than 30 foreign delegations thus reminding that peace and liberty were priceless and that they should be cherished in joint efforts of the whole international community,

The surviving camp prisoners Ljubomir Zecevic and the Minister of Work and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic spoke of the Staro Sajmiste and Banjica concentration camps.

The commemoration ended in a program titled “May the silence be heard”.
