Compilation of works on contingency situations
In the School of National Defense a Compendium of Works from the International Scientific Conference on Contingency Situations held late January 2009 in the organization of the Institute for Strategic Research and OSCE Mission was presented today. On this occasion, the book by dr Katarina Strbac “Continegcy Situations-and how to handle them was also presented. This book presents in four volumes the current situation in state organs in contingency situations, the role of SAF and the experiences of other countries in this respect.In her address welcoming the representatives of OSCE to Serbia, of the Faculty of Security, of military and state institutions which deal with contingency situations, as well as the Head of the Institute for Strategic Research-Lt. Gen. Milan Zaric stressed that the successful organizatioin of this conference held on 28 and 29 January this year, only proves that MOD and SAF were giving proper significance to contingency management and the help in case of natural disasters and large-scale catastrophes.
- The results of this scientific conference can also be seen in this compilation of research papers published with the courtesy of OSCE mission to Serbia and thanks to our efforts to approximate the views of leading experts which deal with rescue and contingency management to the state institutions. This compilation will help us improve our response capabilities in the future period and to react promptly, more effectively and wisely to all the risks posed by such situations, as LTG Milan Zaric said.Professor Vladimir Jakjovljevic of the Faculty of Security spoke of this book and he stressed that even greater attention should be paid to successful management and reacting in contingency situations.
