Annual awards for the best scientific research project and doctoral dissertation




The annual awards ceremony for the best research project and best doctoral dissertation in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces for 2019 was held today at the Ministry of Defence.

The ceremony was attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Aleksandar Živković, who presented the awards on behalf of the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, Head of Defence Technologies Department of the Material Resources Sector, Major General Mladen Vuruna, and the Chairman of the Annual Award Selection Committee – the Head of Strategic Planning Department of the Defence Policy Sector, Colonel Slaven Vujic.

This year's award winners are Milovan Pešić of the Military Technical Institute for the best scientific research project and Lieutenant Colonel Saša Petrović of the Logistics Department of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces for the best doctoral dissertation.

Congratulating the award winners, State Secretary Živković pointed out that the awards are a symbolic form of recognition for their dedicated work, but also an incentive for all researchers to contribute to the development and improvement of the defence potential of the Republic of Serbia through scientific work.

Milovan Pešić is the leader of the award-winning scientific research project "Multipurpose Fuse (UM, M14) for 105mm to 155mm artillery ammunition, and Lieutenant Colonel  Saša Petrović, PhD is the author of the awarded doctoral thesis "Development of a maintenance system model using simulation".

The annual award for the best scientific research project, doctoral dissertation and master's thesis in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces is presented in order to affirm scientific research work and to stimulate scientists in the defence system.
